Menopause
Menopause indicates the cessation of menstruation and usually occurs between the ages of 48 and 55, menopause itself is a natural progression in a women’s life, however if this time of change is accompanied with uncomfortable symptoms this is not normal, and indicates a imbalance that acupuncture treatment may be of benefit.
HRT may only be a temporary fix as once you stop taking HRT in many cases the symptoms will return because the underlying cause of the symptoms has still not been addressed.
The increased risk of cancer and heart disease associated with the use of HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) have been well documented.
Acupuncture will help reduce the symptoms associated with Menopause as well as treating the underlying cause of these Symptoms.
Acupuncture And Menopause
We specialise in treating all Menopause related disorders
Acupuncture treatment is safe, completely natural and without any adverse side affects.
Acupuncture has been shown to be able regulate the hormones that play an important role in emotional stability these include Serotonin and Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), low Serotonin levels have been associated with depression and a greater risk of suicide, obesity, and insomnia. ACTH has a broad effect on many neurotransmitters that control a variety of physiologic functions including the ability to deal with stress.
No two Menopause sufferers are the same yet they are all given the same medicine!
There are over the counter herbal formulas available for Menopause and some people seem to benefit from these but there is no “one pill fits all” for Menopause and each individuals situation needs to be taken into account in order for a unique treatment based around you and your individual condition.

Ginny – Menopause
“I had been suffering typical night-time menopause problems for years – waking five or six times a night! After my first session with Neil Banning I had my first full nights sleep in a long time, and after each weekly session I slept solidly for the next 3 or 4 nights and on subsequent nights I woke only once or twice. An added bonus was that after each session I walked out of his centre feeling on top of the world – relaxed yet energised. Neil’s excellent communication skills (explaining what he was doing and why) demystified the whole acupuncture process and his professional skill and attitude gave me great confidence.”

Sarah – Early Menopause
In my mid-thirties I was told by my gynaecologist I was going into early menopause. My hormone levels confirmed this; I had the hormones of a 50yr old. I couldn’t believe it as I was still young. I had also been having painful periods due to endometriosis and my emotions were up and down as well as the usual menopause hot flushes, sweating and sleepless nights. I had tried acupuncture for a few months and had little change in my symptoms. It was then a friend mentioned Neil to me so I thought I would give acupuncture one more go. I noticed some improvement after the first treatment and the improvements continued after each session. After 6 months of seeing Neil and having weekly acupuncture and some herbs and supplements he prescribed I returned to my gynaecologist for my check up. My hormone levels were that of someone in their 30’s and she told me that whatever I was doing to keep it up.
