Irregular Periods

The menstrual cycle is a complicated series of events and is easily “tipped” out of balance. According to the Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) holistic view a women’s health can be gauged by the functioning of her gynaecology system , if there is irregularity there is a problem, perhaps at the early stages no other health problems may be evident, but if left untreated there may be other seeming unrelated problems in later life. Common menstrual irregularities are, no periods, late or early periods, long or short periods, heavy or light bleeding, bleeding between periods, all these conditions are indicating a internal problem.

The treatment of gynaecology with Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine has a history dating back to 1500-1000 BC.

Many problems related to Gynaecology are of a functional nature, this means that there may not be any structural problems but more likely to be caused by hormonal irregularities.

Part of Acupuncture’s role in the treatment of gynaecological problems stems from its ability to regulate hormones and to balance and settle the emotions.
