”At Taupo Acupuncture we specialise in all gynaecological disorders.”
Many problems related to Gynaecology are of a functional nature, this means that there may not be any structural problems but more likely to be caused by hormonal irregularities.
Part of Acupunctures role in the treatment of gynaecological problems stems from its ability to regulate hormones and to balance and settle the emotions.

Angela – Period Pain
Neil is my saviour, he rescued me from years of monthly pain due to my menstrual cycles. The pain started from a very young age, doctors could offer no solution, with the exception of a contraceptive pill and pain killers. After enduring this pain for 20 years or so, (sometimes been so excruciating I was bed ridden). Using Acupuncture and Chinese medicine over a course of approximately 6 months, he has completely cured me of my enduring pain. I cannot recommend him highly enough and without Neil, I would no doubt still be enduring chronic monthly periods. And for that Neil, I will always be gratefull…

Ginny – Menopause
I had been suffering typical night-time menopause problems for years – waking five or six times a night! After my first session with Neil Banning I had my first full nights sleep in a long time, and after each weekly session I slept solidly for the next 3 or 4 nights and on subsequent nights I woke only once or twice. An added bonus was that after each session I walked out of his centre feeling on top of the world – relaxed yet energised. Neil’s excellent communication skills (explaining what he was doing and why) demystified the whole acupuncture process and his professional skill and attitude gave me great confidence.

Heather – Period Pain
I had been suffering from painful periods ever since I moved to New Zealand 4 years ago. After I had acupuncture treatments, my period pain has reduced a lot, and now comes more regularly every month. I feel my body is stronger and healthier since I have regular treatment every week from Neil.

Ji Ying – Period Pain
I was referred to Neil Banning by one of my best friends; I normally wouldn’t see a non-Chinese doctor for acupuncture or herbs. Acupuncture and herbs is our traditional way of healing. Now I think that I am really lucky by taking that opportunity to visit Neil. I would no doubt recommend those suffer a health problem to try Chinese Medicine especially if your GP is unable to give you an explanation.
I had chronic stomach ache for nearly 8 years and period pain for 12 years. I went to see Neil and he gave me a very detailed consultation and diagnosis which included checking my pulse, tongue and face, and explained to me how the acupuncture works, and how it helps to improve the body strength, health and calm my emotions. My stomach ache and period got much better after I had acupuncture treatment every week for nearly 6 months. From my experience of acupuncture it can not only help your physical pain but also your emotions too, but the most important thing is to be consistent with your treatments don’t expect to come once and the problem will be fixed, the Chinese way of getting healthier takes time by building up you internal organs so your body is strong enough to heal itself.

Sarah – Early Menopause
In my mid-thirties I was told by my gynaecologist I was going into early menopause. My hormone levels confirmed this; I had the hormones of a 50yr old. I couldn’t believe it as I was still young. I had also been having painful periods due to endometriosis and my emotions were up and down as well as the usual menopause hot flushes, sweating and sleepless nights. I had tried acupuncture for a few months and had little change in my symptoms. It was then a friend mentioned Neil to me so I thought I would give acupuncture one more go. I noticed some improvement after the first treatment and the improvements continued after each session. After 6 months of seeing Neil and having weekly acupuncture and some herbs and supplements he prescribed I returned to my gynaecologist for my check up. My hormone levels were that of someone in their 30’s and she told me that whatever I was doing to keep it up.
